What we fix

From "it won't turn on" to "it's just gotten slow." If you're not sure what's wrong, that's what the diagnosis is for — describe what it's doing and we'll track it down.

Diagnostics

Not sure what's wrong? We track down the actual cause — hardware or software — and explain it in plain terms before anything gets fixed.

Hardware repair

Failing drives, dead power supplies, noisy fans, bad memory, overheating — we source quality parts and swap them out cleanly.

Upgrades

Slow or running out of room? A faster SSD, more memory, or a stronger graphics card can buy years — see PC upgrades. We'll tell you honestly if it's worth it.

Slow & misbehaving

Booting slow, freezing, or buried in junk? We sort out the software side and get it running the way it should again.

Won't boot or keeps crashing

Black screens, blue screens, random restarts, no power — the scary stuff. We diagnose it and tell you whether it's a quick fix or time for a rebuild.

Builds we made

If we built your PC, service is part of the deal and backed by your warranty and lifetime support. Bring it home.

How it works

No mystery, no runaround. You know the problem and the price before we start.

Step 1

Get in touch

Call, email, or stop by the Fairport shop and tell us what it's doing. A quick call ahead means the right person is ready for you.

Step 2

Honest diagnosis

We find the real problem and give you a clear quote. A diagnosis usually runs $25–35 — and if it's a five-minute fix, it's on us. You decide what happens next, no pressure.

Step 3

Fixed and tested

Once you give the go-ahead, we fix it and test it properly before it goes back to you — the same way we test every machine we build.

Why bring it here?

There are big-box service counters and there are mail-it-away depots. Here's what a real local shop does differently.

You talk to the technician

You deal with the person actually working on your machine — explaining the problem and the fix in plain terms, not handing you a ticket number.

Straight about repair vs replace

If a fix doesn't make financial sense, we'll say so and help you spec the right new build instead. We'd rather keep you than sell you a bad repair.

Any desktop, any brand

We work on machines we didn't build, from any maker. Thirty years on the bench means we've almost certainly seen it before.

30 years of standards

We've built and serviced for thousands of local families and businesses — plus some demanding customers from NASA to MIT. Those standards travel.

Repair questions

Do you repair PCs you didn't build?
Yes, after we take a look. For a machine we didn't build, we assess it first and decide whether it's a job we can take on. Either way, we diagnose the problem, explain it plainly, and quote before any work — you decide from there. One thing to know: repairs and upgrades on a PC we didn't originally build aren't covered by a warranty. We'll always work to get it right, but we can't guarantee parts or assembly we didn't supply.
Do you work on laptops and Macs?
We're a desktop shop first, and we don't work on Macs at all. We'll consider some Windows laptops on a limited, case-by-case basis — a memory or drive upgrade, say — but only if it's a model we can open safely. Plenty of laptops are built so the case can't come apart without permanent damage, so we'll take a look first and tell you honestly whether it's one we can help with.
What kinds of problems do you fix?
The common ones are machines that won't boot, random crashes and freezes, failing or full drives, overheating and loud fans, bad memory or power supplies, and PCs that have slowed to a crawl. If you're not sure what's wrong, just describe what it's doing and we'll tell you whether it's worth fixing.
How much does a repair cost?
A diagnosis usually runs $25–35, depending on whether it's a hardware dive or a softer trip through the operating system. If we can spot and fix the problem in five minutes — say, the wrong wireless dongle left plugged in — we're not going to charge you for it. For an actual repair, the cost depends on what's wrong, so we give you a clear quote before any work, with no surprise charges and no obligation.
What if the damage was my fault?
We'll still fix it — no judgment, we've seen plenty. But if a part was damaged by a wiring mistake or a bad install, you pay for the replacement part itself. For example, if an all-in-one cooler's pump got fried because its power lead went into the wrong header, we'll get the machine running again, but the new cooler is on you. Either way we show you what happened and quote it before we do anything.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment is needed, but it helps to call (585) 388-8780 before you come by so the right person is ready and we can talk through the problem first. Our shop is at 1387 Fairport Rd, Suite 900J, Fairport, NY 14450, generally open Monday–Friday, 9:00–5:30, and often available on weekends.
Is it worth repairing, or should I just replace it?
We'll give you the honest answer. Sometimes a cheap part brings a machine right back to life; sometimes the money is better spent on a new build. If it's time to replace, we'll help you spec the right custom PC or point you at a prebuilt that fits.
Do you do upgrades as well as repairs?
Yes — a faster SSD, more memory, a stronger graphics card, or extra storage can add years to a PC for a fraction of the cost of a new one. We'll tell you honestly whether an upgrade will actually help before you spend a dime.

Let's get it running again.

Call, email, or bring it by the Fairport shop. We'll figure out what's wrong, tell you what it'll cost, and you decide from there — no pressure, no obligation.
